My Mac OS X experiences to date have been upon an old 1998 MacBook Pro (Motorola chip), and 2009 24″ iMac, and now an 2015 15″ MacBook pro. I must say, the MBPro is pretty awesome. However, with native El Capitan, and no DVD/CD drive integrated, there are some conviences that are missed, at least in the short term.
One of these is GarageBand and the loops. The new garageband didn’t have my favorite loop, Breakbeat Long. Whaaa? Nor did I have a DVD/CD drive to install my ancient Jam Pack 4 – Symphony Orechestra loops. Ugh…
If you have run into similar issues, have no fear! To restore these, I simply got my Time Machine, found the folder (/Library/Audio/Apple/Apple Loops/) and copy the files off and over to my new Mac via a 64BG USB key. Sweet!
If you do the same, and they don’t show up automatically, don’t fret! You simply have to reindex the loops from the Loop Browser drop down menu.
